Onyx and other stones are beautiful natural materials that can be used in a variety of interior design projects. Adding a backlighting element can take their beauty to the next level and create a stunning visual effect. Acrylic light panels are one of the ways that can give you an effective way to backlight stones. In addition, it brings out their unique qualities. In this blog, we will explore the benefits of using acrylic light panels for backlighting onyx and other stones. This is specifically using custom acrylic light panels from Prime Light Boxes.

Acrylic Light Panel

Prime Light Boxes offers custom acrylic light panels for backlighting onyx and other stones. Our panels are made from high-quality acrylic material that is durable and easy to work with. The panels are available in custom sizes up to 48″ X 96” and can be made with white LEDs or with RGB LEDs for added versatility. Our products are also CSA/UL approved, ensuring that they meet the highest safety standards. With a lifespan of 50,000 hours, the panels will provide a long-lasting and beautiful backlighting solution.

Installation of acrylic light panels is straightforward and easy. The panels can be in custom sizes to fit any space, making them ideal for use in custom projects. The onyx or other stone can be placed directly on top of the acrylic light panel. It eliminates the need for a gap between the two materials. The panel can then be screwed directly onto the wall. The wire coming out of the panel can be connected to the power supply which can be hidden inside a cabinet.

An Example

The following pictures show one of the jobs done using the LED Acrylic Light Panels. There are 2 panels that are 53” X 28” each. As you can see, the whole area couldn’t be covered by one panel, since the acrylic panels can’t be made wider than 48”, and longer than 96”. That brings us to one important factor to consider when using multiple acrylic light panels. When two panels are used side by side, there may be a slight shadow on the Onyx where the panels meet. This is because there is a half an inch border around the panel that covers the LEDs on the edges. To eliminate or reduce the shadow, you can place the Onyx a bit away from the panel. One inch distance would greatly reduce the shadow.
