Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about backlighting onyx and stone.
What is the best LED panel for backlighting onyx?+
For most stone applications, the Backlit Light Panel is the best choice. It provides 100% even, very bright light — which is important because dense materials like onyx require high brightness for the stone's natural patterns to show through. If you have limited clearance behind the stone (less than 2"), the Acrylic Light Panel is a good alternative. For curved surfaces and waterfalls, Flexible LED Sheets are the ideal solution.
How much space do I need behind the stone?+
For Backlit Light Panels: 1.5" gap between the panel and the stone (2.5" for RGB panels). For Acrylic Light Panels: no gap required, though ½" improves light evenness. For Flexible LED Sheets: 1" gap recommended. We supply custom acrylic spacers to maintain the correct distance.
Can you make panels with cutouts for sinks and outlets?+
Yes. All three panel types can be ordered with custom cutouts for sinks, faucets, outlets, or any other fixture. Simply send us a sketch or drawing showing the locations and dimensions of the cutouts.
Is there a size limit?+
Backlit Light Panels and Flexible LED Sheets have no upper size limit. For large installations, we manufacture in multiple sections that are placed side by side and connected to individual power supplies. Acrylic Light Panels have a maximum size of 48" × 96" per section.
Can I use RGB (color-changing) LEDs for stone?+
Yes. Both Backlit Panels and Acrylic Panels are available with RGB LEDs. For RGB panels, a larger gap is needed from the stone — approximately 2.5" to 3" — to allow the colors to blend properly before reaching the stone surface.
Do I need an electrician to install?+
If you choose a plug-in power supply, no electrician is needed — the panel simply connects to a wall outlet. If you choose a hardwire power supply (recommended for permanent installations), a qualified electrician should make the electrical connections. We include detailed installation guides with every order.
Can the panels be dimmed?+
Yes. All our panels are dimmable. You can add a low-voltage dimmer with WiFi remote (controllable by phone via the Tuya Smart app), or choose a dimmable hardwire power supply that works with a standard wall dimmer switch.
Do you ship to the United States?+
Yes. We ship across Canada and the United States with free shipping. Because our products are manufactured in Canada, US customers do not pay any duties or customs fees under CUSMA.
