All You Need To Know
Fabric light boxes
What is a fabric light box?
A fabric light box is made of an aluminum frame that has a groove around it. The printed fabric has rubber around that is inserted into that grove, making the fabric stretched nicely over the frame.
What are SEG frames?
SEG (Silicone Edge Graphics) are high-resolution graphics printed onto fabric and then finished with a thin silicone strip sewn directly to the fabric’s edge. The silicone rubber is inserted into a groove around the aluminum extruded frame. The stretched fabric is easily interchangeable and is the best solution for displaying high quality graphics. SEG frames with LEDs called Fabric Light Boxes.
Why are they called frameless?
Fabric light boxes are called frameless, because when looking at them in front, the frame is not visible. All you see is the printed image on fabric.
Are the fabric light boxes a good choice for residential projects?
Yes, Fabric light boxes can be a great addition to modern looking residences. All you need is to give us your favorite image, and we take care of the rest.
Are the fabric light boxes a good choice for window displays?
Yes, Fabric light boxes, with hanging hardware, are the best choice for window displays. The high quality fabrics that we provide do not fade under the sun,
What is the maximum size of fabric light boxes?
There is no limit in the size. Fabric light boxes can be made in sections, and joined at the jobsite, and installed. The printed fabric, however, is made in one piece in very large sizes.
Is the installation easy?
Yes. the fabric light boxes, single sided and double sided, are very easy to install. In each page, we have installation instructions for each type.
Is the fabric easy to install?
Yes. the printed fabric has a silicone rubber sawn around it, that is inserted into a groove around the light box frame. It takes a few minutes to install itt.
Do you print the fabric?
Yes. we manufacture the light box and SEG frame and have your images printed on high quality fabrics. All you need to do is to give us the images you like, and we ship the whole package to your jobsite.
Are they backlit ot edgelit?
Our single sided fabric light boxes are backlit, and our double sided, free standing ones are edgelit.
LED Edge-lit Displays
What is an Edge-lit LED display?
An edge-lit display is made up of LGP (Light Guide Panel, a special acrylic sheet (usually 6-8mm thick) made of high purity (PMMA) and light source (LED) placed along one or more sides of the sheet to provide light for the display. The acrylic sheet is etched (laser or mechanical) to reflect the light from the body of the acrylic sheet outward.
How does the LED Edge-lit display differs from traditional florescent light boxes?
- There are several differences. LED lights are more efficient and long-lasting than traditional light sources. This means less maintenance work is required.
- The LED Edge-lit displays are much slimmer than traditional displays and take less space. This makes them suitable for new applications such as back-lit retails shelves.
- The Edge-lit displays could provide more even lighting. Our 3D etching technology produces 90-95% even lighting throughout the display.
What is 3D etching technology?
Our etching technology produces maximum brightness per square foot of the LGP (Light Guide Panel). We etch horizontal and vertical lines on the LGP to reflect the light that is supplied by the LED light source and flows inside the body of the sheet. Our 3D technology calculates and sets distance of the horizontal and vertical lines so that they are made closer to each other when they are further from the light source. Precise calculation and application of this distance is critical to providing an even light throughout the LGP.
What type of acrylic sheet is used in your products?
We use the highest grade cast acrylic (optical grade) to produce the LGP used in our products. The acrylic used in our products does not turn yellow with time.
Will the reflection of light fade with time?
The reflection ratio of our displays will not change with time since we use mechanical etching in the production of our displays. Be aware of products that use printing technology to reflect light off the LGP (Light Guide Panel). The cheaper printed (vs. etched) LGP used by our competition lose their reflection properties within 2 years and the brightness of those displays fades very quickly.
How does future look for LEDs?
LEDs are poised to replace traditional incandescent light bulbs. LEDs are rapidly becoming the preferred lighting solution of both professionals and residential users. LED technology is continually advancing – producing brighter LED bulbs. The U.S. Department of Energy hopes to reduce the electricity used for lighting by 50% by converting to LED based light sources.
Are LEDs eco friendly?
LEDs are made from non-toxic materials, unlike fluorescent lighting that uses mercury that may pose a danger to the environment. LED’s are also recyclable and considered “green”.
How safe are LEDs?
Improved safety may be LED’s most important benefit LED lights to generate virtually no heat. Therefore they are cool to the touch and can be left on for hours without incident or consequence if touched. LED’s produce 3.4 BTU’s/hour, compared to 85 for incandescent bulbs. In comparison, incandescent lighting expels 90% of the energy it consumes via heat, making the bulbs hot to the touch. LEDs reduce the potential for safety risks such as burns and fires.
How durable are LEDs?
LEDs are solid-state lighting devices that utilize semiconductor material instead of a filament or neon gas. An LED light is a tiny chip encapsulated in an epoxy resin enclosure, which makes LEDs far sturdier than traditional incandescent light bulbs or fluorescent tubes. Since LEDs don’t use fragile components such as glass and filaments, LEDs are able to withstand shock, vibration, and extreme temperature.
How long will LED lights last?
Longevity LEDs have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours compared to 1,500 hours for incandescent bulbs. An LED light will last close to 6 years (constant use) before needing replacement. On average, LED bulbs last 10 times as long as compact fluorescent bulbs, and 133 times longer than typical incandescent bulbs. Long lifespan of LEDs will dramatically reduce maintenance costs and lower long-term operating costs compared to traditional incandescent and fluorescent tubes.
LED lifespan scenarios:
- 50,000 hours powered 4 hours/day = 34 year lifespan
- 50,000 hours powered 8 hours/day = 17 year lifespan
- 50,000 hours powered 24 hours/day = 6 year lifespan
How efficient are LEDs?
LEDs are extremely energy efficient and consume up to 90% less power than incandescent bulbs. Since LEDs use only a fraction of the energy of an incandescent light bulb there is a dramatic decrease in power costs. Also, money and energy is saved in maintenance and replacement costs due to the long LED lifespan. Because of the low power usage of LEDs, they are becoming extremely popular for light sources in remote areas that use solar panels. Although LEDs have a higher initial cost than incandescent and compact fluorescent light bulbs, the cost is quickly recouped over time in lower electricity costs.
What are the advantages of LEDs compared with conventional incandescent lights?
LEDs have many advantages over the traditional incandescent or halogen light bulbs, here is the list of most important advantages:
Low power consumption – energy saving
- Cold lighting
- Small size and weight
- Fast switch times
- Simple to use
What is LED?
LED (Light Emitting Diodes) are the latest and most exciting technological advancement in the lighting industry. LED is a semiconductor device that emits visible light when electrical current passes through it, it is a special kind of diode. LEDs are small, solid light bulbs which are extremely energy-efficient and long-lasting. LEDs operate differently than traditional incandescent light bulbs. This makes LEDs far more rugged and durable than traditional incandescent light bulbs. LED technology also offers many additional advantages over incandescent, neon, and compact fluorescent lighting devices – such as an exceptionally longer life span (60,000 hours), enormously lower energy usage (90% more efficient), reduced maintenance costs, and higher safety. LEDs are currently being used for a wide variety of applications such as residential lighting, aerospace, architectural lighting, automotive, aviation, broadcasting, electronic instrumentation, entertainment and gaming, industrial automation and controls, the military, traffic, and safety & transportation.
